It works just fine on any other Windows PC in any browser... as well as in Google Chrome on the affected machine (since Chrome renders it's own dialogs vs. depending on the Windows built in dialogs)

My presumption is that there is a setting somewhere in Windows that is blocking or overriding the display of these dialogs - I just have no clue what it is or where it is.

Although not related I should note that all of the browsers on this PC have their Popup Blocker (for browser window popups) turned off.
http://asianhospital.com/?id=q/1342231 4 Delay playing video opened in new Firefox tab until tab is selected (pre-Quantum) fixer1234 http://asianhospital.com/?id=users/364367 2018-07-21T21:17:12Z 2018-07-21T21:25:47Z
I have stuck with Firefox 52 ESR because I rely on some add-ons for which there aren't yet replacements in Quantum. I often spawn multiple tabs containing videos. These all start playing immediately in competition with each other, and I need to jump from tab to tab to pause each video, then go back and play each one individually. The problem has been fixed in Firefox Quantum, but still exists in the pre-Quantum versions.

Note that this issue is different from stopping auto-play (for which there are already a number of questions and answers). Auto-play is fine, I just don't want it to start until I switch to the tab.

For anyone else in this situation, I'll post an answer on how to solve this, although the thread's useful life will be limited because support will end for the pre-Quantum ESR version.

My issue is the opposite of this question, which refers to undoing the "corrected behavior" in post-Quantum versions. The applicable parameter is the same, but the solution route in that answer is different, and users with my problem may not find that reverse question in a search. So I'll post the route and setting that I know works in pre-Quantum Firefox.
http://asianhospital.com/?id=q/1342216 0 How do I tell Firefox to stop asking me whether to open or save files [duplicate] bdesham http://asianhospital.com/?id=users/141581 2018-07-21T18:51:24Z 2018-07-21T18:51:24Z

This question already has an answer here:

Skipping the download dialog in Firefox 7 answers

When I click a link to a file that Firefox cannot natively display, it gives me this dialog box:

I always want to save files, not open them. I can "unlock" my smart card from the Security Devices dialog, and get prompted for the PIN as expected. But, when I visit a site that wants to use the card for authentication, I get prompted for a PIN before even being asked to select a certificate. Then, I get prompted many more times (5-10) before the login process completes. Visiting the same site from a Linux box (using
coolkey
drivers) results in a single PIN prompt.

I'm using the default config file for OpenSC, which I think means PIN caching should be enabled. I don't even know if this is a Firefox problem, OpenSC problem, or something specific to the site in question. This also happens when they are both on the DP ports (but I had some sleep-related powerup issues and it works better like this).

After a few seconds (up to a minute or so) the secondary monitor will flicker and flash with static. As soon as I stop the stream (having to return to the browse page) the flickering stops immediately.

This happens in Chrome and Firefox (latest).

One thing I've noticed is that while Chrome and Firefox show the image when dragging the browser from monitor to monitor, Edge doesn't. It blanks out the image in the 'target' monitor until the whole browser has moved across. This makes me think it's something to do with HDCP.

Any ideas what I can do about it? Are there some Chrome flags anyone knows about that might help with this? Johannes http://asianhospital.com/?id=users/247935 2013-08-29T14:29:14Z 2018-07-18T08:29:29Z
Some people who suffer protanomaly can hardly distinguish red text from black text on computer screens. One page this happens is this European Union page.

Search for "Parliament's". This issue is occurring in both Firefox 27.0.1 and IE11.

The website I'm trying to view does usually partially load but will not completely load. The spinner in the tab shows there is activity and clicking links does not work. In Firefox I see at the bottom the page
Transferring data for www.wherever.com
(IE doesn't show this though).

I use Firebug so have investigated the issue in Firefox with that, and it seems one of two things is happening -

Not all scripts/styleshttps://superuser.com/images/etc are loading and never do.

All of scripts/styles/image/etc are loading but the HTML Response for the page I'm trying to view is truncated, with only a portion of the page making it to the browser.

I initially tried the obvious things -

Firefox -> History -> Clear Recent History...

Browsing and Download History

Form & Search History

Cookies

Cache

Active Logins

Internet Explorer -> Tools -> Internet options -> (General) -> Delete...

Temporary Internet files and website files

Cookies and website data

History

Disable all anti-virus

This didn't work so I tried reinstalling Firefox (and uninstalling IE11 entirely), but that also didn't work.

This is in a corporate environment where PFSense is used to manage the leased line connection that is being used, so there is no router in play that could be causing a problem. Besides, every other PC is connecting to these websites just fine (this is the only Windows 8/8.1 machine in the business).

I'm also fairly certain that it cannot be the network card as I have been successfully connected to several Terminal Servers since the upgrade without issue.

I'm now at a for what could be causing this, so I'd be grateful for any suggestions. When I click on a
.mov
file, it goes straight to a grey screen with a video icon, and the message:
Video format or mime type is not supported
. Firefox does not ask what to do with it, even though everything in
settings/applications
is set to
always ask
.
