I have prepared a UEFI USB flash drive installation for Windows 8.1, as described to this link.

The computer is on UEFI mode.

Now the computer boots from the USB flash drive, but after some seconds, I get an error message on a blue screen:

Your pc need to be repaired
The application or operating system couldn't be loaded because a required file is missing or contain errors

File \windows\system32\boot\winload.efi
Error code :0xc0000359"

It’s strange because the hard drive has no partitions, and the USB flash drive doesn’t have a path path like \windows\system32\boot\winload.efi.

What is happening and what should I do?

  • have you used Rufus or the manual way? Rufus always works fine for me. – magicandre1981 Mar 15 '15 at 10:24
  • If it doesn't have the EFI drivers then you can't boot into in UEFI mode. use a different tool to generate burn the drive – Ramhound Mar 15 '15 at 15:16
  • I have tried rufus too . It's the same error. – tiku Mar 15 '15 at 16:21
  • And the usb boot in uefi mode , but after some seconds I get the error I described above. – tiku Mar 15 '15 at 16:55
