Asian Hospital and Medical Center’s Department of Pediatrics provides world-class, compassionate health care for infants, children, and adolescents.

Our 138 pediatricians, across 18 sub-specialties, work together to address your needs every step of the way. We also provide premiere training in Pediatric education for postgraduate trainees.

Pediatric Subspecialties A-H

The Section of Allergy and Clinical Immunology provides diagnosis and treatment of children with asthma, food and environmental allergies, atopic dermatitis (eczema), allergic and non-allergic rhinitis (hay fever), anaphylaxis, contact dermatitis, sinusitis, angioedema (swelling), urticaria (hives), common variable immunodeficiency disorder, and adverse reactions to medications.

The section of Pediatric Cardiology provides the complete spectrum of cardiovascular care. This includes the diagnosis of congenital and acquired heart disease as well as arrhythmias that affect children. Our pediatric cardiologists are expertly trained to provide this care with the use of electrocardiography, echocardiography, cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology studies.

Clinical Nutrition
We assess patients’ Nutritional Status, and work to educate patients on. Nutrition Interventions, modified diets and oral health conditions. We also evaluate anthropometric, biochemical and clinical data (current and historical), and obtain a detailed social and diet history.

Critical Care
Our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit is staffed by Pediatric Critical Care physicians who underwent recognized training in Critical Care.

In addition, the multidisciplinary team involved in caring for critically ill children includes Pediatric House Physicians available 24/7, Pediatric Residents, Advanced Practice Nurses, Pharmacists, Respiratory Therapists, Physical Therapists etc.

We work collaboratively with pediatric specialists and surgical specialists, to bring a multidisciplinary approach to critical care.

The section of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Clinical Nutrition offers a comprehensive assessment and management of a child’s digestive, hepatic and nutritional disorders.

We competently assess gastrointestinal problems which may present with the following symptoms: vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain and jaundice.

We have an endoscopy unit where diagnostic upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopies are performed as well as therapeutic procedures such as rubber band ligation of varices, sclerotherapy and extraction of foreign bodies are done.

General Pediatrics
For an overall assessment of your child’s health needs, a General Pediatrics consultant can identify the exact area where your child requires medical attention.

The section of Pediatric Hematology comprises board-certified pediatric hematologist-oncologists trained to diagnose and treat children and teens with cancer and hematologic disorders, including bleeding and clotting disorders, sickle cell disease and related hemoglobinopathies, and provide marrow/stem cell transplantation for selected malignant and benign disorders.

Our comprehensive care includes access to state-of-the-art medical diagnosis and treatment in patient- and family-friendly facilities.

Infectious Diseases
The Section of Pediatric Infectious Diseases is comprised of recognized clinicians, researchers and educators whose work focuses on a wide range of viral, bacterial and parasitic infections. Our clinical services, which include diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases in children

Our neonatal physicians are trained along the highest standards to provide state-of-the art medical care for our patients. Through continuing education, our physicians are equipped to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in neonatal medicine and deliver the highest standards of care.

Our comprehensive coverage for premature and full-term infants include the following services:

  • Advanced NICU services, including conventional ventilation, exchange transfusion
  • Dedicated mother/baby unit beds
  • Diagnostic services for newborns with complex medical problems
  • Nutritional care of critically ill newborns
  • Consultations from almost every pediatric specialty and sub-specialty
  • Follow-up clinics for NICU “graduates” with problems

Our board-certified pediatric nephrologists offer comprehensive medical services for children with kidney diseases and disorders. We provide diagnostic and treatment services and work in close collaboration with other specialties.

Neurodevelopmental Pediatrics
Our Neurodevelopmental clinicians evaluate and manage children with a variety of developmental and neurobehavioral differences. We provide single-specialty evaluations as well as interdisciplinary team evaluations for children with developmental and behavioral concerns from birth through adolescence.

The Section of Pediatric Neurology consists of individuals working together to provide the most compassionate and up-to-date care for children with neurological disorders. The team offers compassionate care that focuses on allowing children to enjoy good quality of life.
Pediatric Neurology evaluates and treats children and young adults with nervous system disorders, including:

  • CNS Infection
  • Brain tumors
  • Development disabilities (mental retardation, cerebral palsy)
  • Migraine and other pain syndromes
  • Epilepsy/ Seizure disorder and other paroxysmal disorders
  • Spinal Cord disorders (myelomeningocele, spinal muscular atrophy)
  • Muscular Dystrophies, Guillain-Barre syndrome, and other nerve and muscular disorders
  • Learning disabilities, dyslexia, and attention disorders

The Section of Pediatric Pulmonology, with its accredited pediatric pulmonologists, provides comprehensive consultation services for the diagnosis and treatment of infants, children and adolescents. Outpatient and inpatient services for pediatric patients with a variety of acute and chronic respiratory conditions is available.
