| Running aficionados and health professionals are all geared up to run for a new, active and healthy lifestyle at RUNew 2010, a fundraising run organized by Asian Hospital and Medical Center, slated on May 2, 2010, at the Filinvest Corporate City, Alabang, Muntinlupa City. |
Now on its second year, RUNew 2010 is part of Asian Hospital and Medical Center’s efforts to instill among its patients and the public in general the importance of getting into a healthy lifestyle. Majority of modern health problems today are brought about by disease-promoting lifestyles. Cholesterol diets, smoking, and sedentary activity have been found to increase the risk of getting diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, coronary heart diseases, osteoporosis, and certain types of cancer. |
This has prompted Asian Hospital and Medical Center to spearhead the advocacy of lifestyle medicine that promotes evidence-based health and wellness tools to its patient base to reduce lifestyle-related disease and mortality through physician-directed intervention. |
"As a world-class medical institution, Asian Hospital and Medical Center has always been strongly advocating healthy lifestyle among Filipinos to help prevent the rise of lifestyle-related diseases. So we’re once again taking this mission outdoors as we mount another fun run that will inspire families, friends and doctors to run for health and improve their lifestyle choices," said Theo Seiler, Chief Executive Officer of Asian Hospital and Medical Center. |
The run is also part of the hospital's fundraising efforts for indigent patients whose medical and surgical care is sponsored by Asian Charities, Inc. |
Participants can choose from four race events: 16k, which assembles at 4:50 a.m. and starts at 5:20 a.m.; 10k, which gathers at 5:05 a.m. and starts at 5:35 a.m.; 5k, which assembles at 5:20 a.m. and starts at 5:50 a.m.; and 3k, which gathers at 5:25 a.m. and starts at 5:55 a.m. Registration fees are at P650 for 16k; P600 for 10k; P550 for 5k; and P400 for 3k. |
Besides getting to experience the thrill of the race and the health benefits that go with running, runners also get to relive this memorable experience as they can have their photos taken during the event as they cross the finish line, which will be printed after the race. |
Registration is until April 25, 2010 at the R.O.X. at Bonifacio High Street and at the Lifestyle Medicine Center, 4/F Hospital Building of the Asian Hospital and Medical Center. |
